AIMS: The last ten years have seen major reform of the law as it relates to carers. This course examines how recent legislation fits in with the maze of other community care statutes, and what rights carers have as a consequence, both from social services and the NHS.
SUITABLE FOR: Social workers, care managers advisers, carers’ worker, health service staff, voluntary sector workers and occupational therapists.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Participants will have an overview of:
- Community care legislation carers’ rights under the Carers (Recognition & Services) Act 1995.
- Carers’ rights under the Community Care & Health (Scotland) Act 2002.
- Carers rights under the Work and Families Act 2006.
- The duty of hospitals to carers during the hospital discharge process.
- The impact of the legislation on adult carers, parent carers and young carers.
