Carers manifesto

The Carers' Manifesto was produced for the Scottish Parliament Election 2007.  It has been produced by the national carer organisations in Scotland - Carers Scotland, the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, Crossroads Caring Scotland, Shared Care Scotland, the Scottish Young Carers Alliance and the Coalition of Carers in Scotland. 

The manifesto makes a range of demands to improve carers lives including:

• Every carer has the right to good health
• Every carer must be able to access regular and appropriate breaks from caring
• Every carer must have access to appropriate support
• Every carer must have access to carer training to support them in their caring role
• Every child and young person with caring responsibilities deserves the right to be a child first
• Every carer must have the right to live free of poverty with opportunities to work and take part in lifelong learning and leisure.
