Lobby of Parliament

Join us for a lobby of Parliament

Carers UK’s Real change not short change campaign is calling on the Government to radically reform the tax and benefit system. We are co-ordinating a lobby of MPs in Westminster on December 4th 2008. We need to continue to make our voices heard as the Government make key decisions about the future of the benefits system and on their spending priorities.

What is a lobby?

A lobby is when people arrange to meet their MP at the House of Commons. The idea is to have a number of people all delivering the same message at the same time. This will hopefully create debate amongst MP's and in Westminister. You'll need to make arrangements to meet your MP. Carers UK will send you information about how to do this.

Why do we need to lobby?

Caring can have a devastating impact on your finances. We were bitterly disappointed that the National Carers Strategy failed to deliver immediate improvements to carers' incomes.

What if I can't get to London?

We understand that because of caring committments and lack of money, many carers will not able to get to London. However you can still arrange to meet your MP at his local surgery on Friday 5th December. If you can't meet them you can also write or email.

Visit the Lobby section of the website to find out more.
