The Social Fund helps people to pay for one-off expenses. It includes:
- funeral payments

- cold weather payments - payments made to people in receipt of specific benefits during cold weather spells
- maternity expenses
- grants for people getting Pension Credit, Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance to help them stay in the community rather than residential care, set up house after being homeless, ease pressures on their family, or visit someone who is ill or in prison
- loans for people getting Pension Credit, Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance to help them buy things like furniture
- loans if you need money urgently - for example, if you lose your weekly benefit money
