Carers grant funding secure until 2010 in Manchester

01 February 2007

With the Carers Grant in England only guaranteed until 2008, many carers’ services face an uncertain future. Manchester Carers have managed to get the Council’s agreement to fund Carers Grant Projects until 2010

David Williams from Manchester Carers Forum explains :

“The Carers Forum lobbied Manchester Council in partnership with support orgnaisations, and carers’ champions. The council has been proactive in terms of its work with carers and has been willing to listen and take action on the concerns which carers have raised.  This funding will hopefully ensure the future of vital support services - such as breaks and sitting services which make it possible for carers to have some time to themselves.
