Payroll Giving

Payroll giving is a scheme that enables employees to give to Carers UK straight from their salary (before tax is deducted), and to receive immediate tax relief.  You can give a regular or one-off amount direct from your monthly salary to Carers UK.

As an example, if you are a basic rate tax payer at 20% and donate a monthly amount of £5.00 to Carers UK, then you will receive £1.00 of tax relief, so this donation will end up costing you £4.00.  If you donate £10.00 to Carers UK through payroll giving then it will only cost you £8.00.

If you are a higher rate tax payer at 40% then it will cost you £6.00 to donate £10.00 to Carers UK.  It really does make sense to give to charities via this simple and tax effective method.

Ask your employer about their payroll giving system today.  If they don't have one then it's very simple to set up.  Employers sign up with an HMRC approved Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) that will distribute donations to the employees favoured charity.  Donors are then asked to complete a mandate, stating how much they wish to give and to which charities and the employer arranges for the donation to come off their salary.
